hey Joaninha,
Santa maria varies a lot. There is footage on youtube of mestre bimba playing it, and you will see what I mean. This is the way I have intepreted it over the years, from seeing different people play. The timing is the main difference between this rhythm and that of punha laranja no chao tico tico.

Hey, Chan! I just realized that your Santa Maria is actually different from the one I know, which only has four notes between each “tich tich”, and the last set goes “dim dom dim dom”. I suppose it’s mostly just what you said about different timing though.
